Are you an Early Childhood Teacher looking for casual work that’s rewarding and flexible? Meli is on the lookout for qualified and passionate teachers to join our casual pool and work across our kindergartens in the Colac region.

Whether you’re available for pre-arranged relief shifts or happy to step in on short notice, you’ll be part of a team delivering inclusive, child-focused programs in warm and welcoming settings. We’re looking for educators with a strong understanding of early childhood pedagogy, a love for working with children and families, and the ability to jump in and contribute with professionalism and care.

About the Role

As a Casual Early Childhood Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, developmentally appropriate early years education program
  • Support and collaborate with educators, parent helpers, and students on placement
  • Maintain safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments, always prioritising supervision and wellbeing
  • Foster positive, respectful relationships with children and families
  • Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks, regulations, and Meli’s policies

Position Details

  • Casual position with a minimum availability of two days per week 
  • Shifts will include both pre-arranged relief and short notice placements (morning of or night before).
  • Salary as per VECTEA 2020 levels 1.1 - 3.6 - $35.33 to $58.96 p/h (depending on experience and qualification)

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or equivalent as approved by ACECQA and suitable pursuant to the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.)  
  • Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
  • Knowledge of the National Education and Care Services Act and Regulations 2011 and the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework and ECEC National Quality Framework and Standards.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of high-quality early years education programs.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop team members and oversee the delivery of the kindergarten program.
